Family Travel
One of the perks of living in Guatemala has been the low cost of traveling on public transit. The chicken bus system runs throughout the whole country and they usually don't charge fare for children! If you don't know much about Guatemalan chicken buses, I strongly recommend reading about them by clicking here.
There is no doubt that travelling with a large family is very challenging. It creates a whole new dynamic and amplifies the "adventure" portion of any trip. Having said that, hikes, jumping into cold streams and bodies of water, jumping over stuff and even bus rides can all become more fun when we learn to let go and become more childlike ourselves. We are so thankful for these children and the view THEY give us of the world when we are able to step back and see it through their eyes.
